Crawford County Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, July 25, at 9 a.m. at the Crawford County Judicial Complex at English. A closed executive session will be at 8 a.m.

Harrison County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Thursday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners/Council Room, Suite No. 100, at the Harrison County Government Center at Corydon.

Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will meet Friday, July 26, at 8:45 a.m. at the USDA Farm Service Agency building at Corydon.


Central Barren United Methodist Church is offering assistance on the fourth Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. to noon, to persons in need of "fill-in" food items. A bag of staples will be available for each family in need.

Eckerty Camp Meeting will be Aug. 1 through 11 at 7 each night except Sunday, which will be at 6 p.m. The Rev. Monty Mahoney will be the evangelist, and singers will be Dennis and Barbara Hayes.

Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church Women will have an inside bake and yard sale Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Proceeds will go to the women's group mission projects. Lincoln Hills UMC is located at 1598 W. S.R. 64, English.

New Salisbury United Methodist Church will have an ice cream social Saturday, July 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. In addition to homemade ice cream, hot dogs and pork barbecue meals will be available.

Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, located at 14047 Alton-Fredonia Road, Cape Sandy, will host Vacation Bible School, "Giddy Up for God," for all ages, Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a campfire lunch. Call Pastor Joe Crowe at 1-812-272-0319 for more information.

Rock Springs Community Church will host its annual clothes and backpack giveaway Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There also will be free haircuts and food boxes for school-age children. St. Bernard Church picnic will be Sunday, Aug. 4, with fried chicken or ham dinners that include homemade noodles and more from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Carry-outs will be available. The cost will be $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger (free for those 3 and younger). The dinner will be free for all active duty military personnel with military ID. The Vittle Pickers will provide entertainment from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also, there will be games for children and adults, a silent auction, quilt and shot gun raffles and a $10,000 cash raffle ($100 per chance). Taswell Seventh-day Adventist Church food pantry will be open Thursday, July 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. Families are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis. Those receiving assistance must complete a form. Families must be from Crawford County and have a need. For more information, call Sheila at 1-812-613-0131.

Tunnel Hill Christian Church, located at 5105 Old Georgetown Road in Georgetown, will host a barbecue dinner Sunday, Aug. 4. The public is invited to attend the worship service at 10 a.m., with the dinner to begin at 11:30. Dinners will include all the fix'ns, from farm fresh vegetables to homemade desserts. Adult dinners will be $8, while those for children ages 6 to 10 will be $4 and those for children 5 or younger free. Dine-in family style or take out. There also will be gospel music, and kids can enjoy games like ring-toss, plinko, a duck pond with prizes and more. There also will be an indoor yard sale.


Crawford County Arts and Crafts will meet Tuesday, July 30, at 12:30 p.m. at Van's Restaurant in Marengo.


Annual gathering of descendants of Jacob and Katherine Foreman Richert will be Sunday, Aug. 4, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Lanesville. A potluck dinner will be served at 12:30, in the church grove, weather permitting. Bring food to share, lawn chairs, memories and pictures. Beverages and table service will be provided.

Crecelius 65th annual reunion will be Sunday, July 28, at 1 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Corydon. Bring a covered dish and an item for the auction. For more information, call Mayetta Purcell at 366-3336.

Sturgeon family reunion, descendants of Samuel L. Sturgeon and Mahala/Christina Sturgeon, will be Sunday, Aug. 4, at Sycamore Springe Park, Bluffs Shelter House. All are welcome.
