The Crawford County Community School Corp. is looking to fill a vacant board of trustees' position after President Lucas Stroud resigned.
Stroud, who has been a member of the board of trustees for the last 11 years, and represents District 1, vacated his position in order to fill a construction trades teaching position at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School.
"It has been a privilege to serve on the board," Stroud said. "It really has been an honor."
The board of trustees is currently seeking qualified applicants. Applicants must be a resident of Crawford County.
Whether the applicant must be from the same district as Stroud is currently unknown. Therefore, the board will be taking applications from applicants as long as they reside within the county.
"Our attorney is checking into that," Superintendent Dr. Mark Eastridge said. "But, just to be safe, we're opening it up to everyone."
The board has 30 days to fill the position, and it hopes to come to a consensus at the regular board meeting on Aug. 20. If the board cannot reach a decision after 30 days, the decision will fall to Crawford Circuit Judge Lynn Lopp.
Letters of interest and applications may be submitted to 5805 E. Administration Road, Marengo, IN 47140 and should be marked to the attention of Dennis Talley, the board's vice president, or e-mailed to email@example.com.
The deadline for submission is Monday at noon. Letters of application should include the applicant's name, address and phone number. For more information, contact the administration office at 365-2135.
