Milltown Community Festival begins Friday

September 18, 2013
The three-day Milltown Community Festival, to be held in the downtown this weekend, will feature a full schedule of activities, including fireworks, a 5K Run/Walk, a toilet race and more.

The festival will kick off on Friday with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. Also on Friday will be the karaoke contest opening round, corn hole competition sign-ups, Little Miss/Master and Prince/Princess Pageant, chili tasting and antique tractor show. The band F/X will end the night on the main stage.

Registration for all events can be found at Maxine's Market and the town hall.

On Saturday, festivities will get underway bright and early. At 7:15, there will be a 5K Run/Walk followed by the American Legion Post 332 breakfast from 8 to 11. The silent auction will begin at noon, and Six Guns Entertainment, a reenactment group that has dedicated itself to the accurate portrayal of the American West in the late 19th century, will perform.

The parade will begin at 4 p.m., with lineup at 2:30 at Milltown Elementary School. The route will follow Speed Road to Poplar Street, then to Church Street, where it will turn right at Main Street (Maxine's Market) and follow through downtown and to bridge. Disbursement will be at the campgrounds or over the bridge. Each entry will complete a short questionnaire during lineup and will be announced downtown as the entry passes near the Great Green Lawn.

A fireworks show sponsored by Lucas Oil will cap off the night.

Sunday will mark the community worship service led by pastors from multiple churches and followed by a gospel concert. In addition, there will be a chicken barbecue, the Indy Ducky Derby Duck Race, sports challenge on the Great Green Lawn and a toilet race down Main Street.

Admission is free.
