Sorghum Festival returns Saturday

October 16, 2013
The 39th annual Sorghum Festival, sponsored by the Crawford County Arts and Crafts Association, will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School near Marengo. Admission and parking are free.

A silent auction will begin at 10 a.m. and end mid-afternoon. Purchases must be picked up by the end of the day.

Freshly made sorghum will be for sale by an Orange County Amish family.

Come hungry to enjoy a selection of chicken and dumplings, chili and corn bread, barbecue chicken dinners, baked goods, candy and more. Also, fresh apple butter will be available.

Several artisans will display their creations. Pottery, jewelry, floral arrangements, wood crafts, ceramics, paintings and more will be on display.

Scholarships for Crawford County students have been awarded each year from the proceeds of this event. Last year's festival awarded three $500 scholarships.

CCJSHS is located three miles south of Marengo along S.R. 66, or four miles north of Interstate 64 (take Exit 92).

For more information, call Crawford County Arts and Crafts Association president Renea Bullington at 338-3330 or silent auction chairperson Anita Mitchell at 1-812-639-6614.
