"He was the finest human being you'd ever meet," Fred Uhl, the Morgan Township trustee, said.

Jacobi served on the Morgan Township advisory board with Uhl for a number of years.

"Every time a new (advisory board) member came on, he would mentor them," Uhl recalled.

"I missed him at the first meeting (this year) and will continue to miss him," he added. "He was honest. I never met a better person. He was not afraid to tell you what was on his mind."

Jacobi didn't just serve his community at the township level. He had served on the Harrison County Council at one time.

"He was a good, dedicated public servant," said Peter J. Schickel, who served on the county council with Jacobi. "He took his job seriously but also realized it was a team effort.

"In this day and age, we need those type of public servants," he said.

A Palmyra resident who had been residing lately at Harrison Spring health campus in Corydon, Jacobi had also served on the Palmyra Town Council.

He was a farmer and had retired from General Electric after 38 years of employment. Jacobi also had served as chairman of the Harrison County Democratic Party and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bradford.

His funeral Mass was Thursday at St. Michael's with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery in Bradford.
