The Crawford County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors elected Michael Thissen as its president for 2019 at a meeting on March 7.
Thissen, the executive director of the Crawford County Economic Development Corp., was unanimously elected by the board, with an eye toward further collaboration and coordination with the mission of the EDC.
"Our businesses are the pulse of our community," Thissen said. "Over the past year, the (Crawford County) Economic Development Corp. has partnered with the Crawford County Chamber of Commerce to support events and help our growth. It is not unusual for us to partner, nor is it unusual for this type of collaboration we have built.
"In my role as president of the Chamber, I see continued forward momentum with our collaboration and hands-on coordination for both organizations to build Crawford County into a bright future," he continued. "I encourage businesses and individuals to join our collaborative to build a more robust local and regional economy."
The board also re-elected Marlin Heinlein of IHCCW Inc. as vice president and Heather Setser of Patoka Lake Marina and Winery as secretary. Jesse Belcher, the outgoing president, was elected treasurer.
The chamber's calendar of events for the year also began to take shape, and details will be forthcoming about a new Chamber After Hours program and several informational workshops designed to benefit current and prospective businesses within the county.
