Music and more at Schwartz's this weekend

September 18, 2019
Classic cars, games for the kids, apple-butter making, antique engines, fireworks and music — lots of music — will be featured Friday and Saturday at the eighth annual Autumn Music Festival. The fun will take place at Schwartz Family Restaurant, located at 6738 W. Governors Trace, Eckerty.

Musical entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. Friday with Otis Berry, an Elvis Presley and Hank Williams tribute artist. Other Friday night bands will include The Breeding Sisters, The High Road Band, Soggy Bottom Boys and Barn Dancers.

A fun kids' game competition will get underway at 7 p.m.

The evening will end with fireworks at 9:20. The Schwartzes are billing it as "the best show in Southern Indiana."

Joe Schwartz said after a one-year hiatus, the car show will be back on Saturday. All cars are welcome. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon with awards presented at 3.

Local musicians will entertain from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A parade will take place at 1 p.m. followed by a kiddie tractor pull at 1:30.

The afternoon music schedule will include Iron Mountain Band and Tunnel Vision. A corn-hole tournament will get underway at 4 p.m. followed by a cross-cut saw competition and ice cream-eating contest at 5:30.

The Tailgate Revival band will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. Joe Schwartz said he's very excited to bring this popular group, which performs modern country, to the festival.

"They're from Evansville and are very well-known," he said.

Overall, Schwartz said this year's lineup is very good.

"They're all really good bands," he said.

The Schwartz family, which is well-known for their restaurant, decided several years ago they wanted to offer something new and different, an event the family could enjoy planning together. The Autumn Music Festival was born.

"It grows a little bit every year," Joe Schwartz said.
