NH bests rival on courts

April 17, 2019
Last Tuesday, North Harrison earned a tight 3-2 team win over rival Corydon Central on the girls' tennis court.

North Harrison's three wins came in straight sets, led by a pair on the doubles court.

At No. 1 doubles, Ella Hoehn and Zoe Akers won 7-5, 6-3 over Kierstin Burres and Lydia Goodpastor. North Harrison's tandem of Emily Bowen and Olivia Wise swept Chantel Lahue and Keats Nance, 6-2, 6-3.

Top singles needed three sets to determine the winner between North Harrison's Ellie Cassidy and Corydon Central's Jaiden Taylor. The opening set went to Taylor (6-3), but Cassidy rallied to win the final two, 6-4, 6-3.

No. 2 and 3 singles went the way of the Lady Panthers. Sydnie Schreck won 6-2, 6-1 over Isabelle Nordhoff at No. 2, while Abigail Oliver posted identical 6-4 sets to top McKenna Pearson.

The Lady Cats will host South Central today (Wednesday).
