May 01, 2019
The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced April 8 the new classifications for member schools in girls' and boys' basketball for the next two school years.
As expected, North Harrison girls' basketball will return to Class 3A after spending the last two seasons at 4A due to the tournament success factor.
Class 2A will see a slight change, as well, in the southern half of the state, with Southridge moving from 3A to 2A based on enrollment for girls' and boys' basketball. In girls' basketball, Vincennes Rivet moves to Class 2A based on the tournament success factor.
Local schools remained unchanged in basketball, with Lanesville and South Central in 1A, Crawford County in 2A, Corydon Central and North Harrison in 3A and Floyd Central in 4A.
The enrollment figures, the boys and girls in grades 9 through 12, were submitted by the schools to the Indiana Department of Education last fall and are used to determine the classifications in the sports of baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, football, boys' and girls' soccer, softball and volleyball.
