June 19, 2019 The Indiana High School Athletic Association Executive Committee on April 29 approved the sectional assignments in six team sports for the next two school years.
Following a minor adjustment made in boys’ soccer, the Executive Committee accepted the recommendations of the respective realignment committees which determined the sectional groups for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.
In football, Corydon Central and North Harrison will be grouped in Class 3A Sectional 32 with a majority of schools in the western part of the state. The field includes Evansville Bosse, Gibson Southern, Heritage Hills, Mount Vernon, Salem and Southridge.
In hoops, the North Harrison girls’ program returns to 3A after two seasons in 4A due to the tournament success factor. The Lady Cats will be grouped with fellow Harrison County program Corydon Central along with Charlestown, Madison, Salem, Scottsburg and Silver Creek.
The boys’ basketball sectional is the same as the girls’, as Brownstown Central is replaced with Madison.
The 2A basketball sectional featuring Crawford County will have different teams on both the boys’ and girls’ side. In the boys’ sectional, the Wolfpack could face Eastern (Pekin), Paoli, Perry Central or Tell City. In the girls’ sectional, the Lady Pack could face Austin, Clarksville, Eastern (Pekin), Henryville or Providence.
A noteworthy change in volleyball is 3A Sectional 30 will be an eight-team affair. Christian Academy of Indiana moves in due to the success factor, joining Charlestown, Corydon Central, Madison, North Harrison, Salem, Scottsburg and Silver Creek.
Three committees consisting of school administrators representing each IHSAA district and class were constructed to realign the sports. The football committee totaled 18 administrators, the basketball and volleyball committee was made up of 12 members, and the soccer committee consisted of nine individuals.
