Crawford County Board of Commissioners and Crawford County Council will meet in a special joint session Thursday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. at the Crawford County Judicial Complex at English. A committee appointed to review personnel and other costs to the county will present its findings. The commissioners will conduct their regular monthly meeting following the joint session. Both meetings were originally scheduled for Feb. 21, but were postponed because of inclement weather.

Georgetown Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.

Georgetown Planning Commission will meet Tuesday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall.

Harrison County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday, March 3, at 8:30 a.m. at the Harrison County Court House at Corydon.

Harrison County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Court House at Corydon.

Harrison County Public Library Board will meet Thursday, Feb. 28, at 3:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Public Library at Corydon.

Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District Board will meet Thursday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the USDA Farm Service Agency Building at Corydon.

Leavenworth Plan Commission will meet Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.

Church Events

Community Lenten services will be held in Harrison County on Sundays. The next service will be at Central Barren United Methodist Church on March 2. Other services will be: March 9 at Palmyra United Methodist Church and March 16 at Palmyra Baptist Church. All services are at 7 p.m. and will offer refreshments. Everyone is invited.

Epiphany Lutheran Church, located at S.R. 135 and Whiskey Run Road in New Salisbury, will host Bluegrass Sunday on March 2, featuring Steve and Cindy Phieler and Friends. Donuts, coffee and fellowship will be from 8:45 to 9 a.m., followed by gospel music led by the Phielers and Friends from 9 to 9:45 a.m. The Phielers and Friends will present special music at 10 a.m. Ham, beans and cornbread will be served at 11:30 a.m. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the mission of the month, Cedar Lake Lodge.

Household of Faith, Assembly of God Church in Crandall will host a fish fry Friday, March 7, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Crandall Masonic Lodge off Oak Street in Crandall. There will be free will offering for those dining in the Lodge. Carry-out meals are $7. Proceeds will go toward the church building fund. For more information, call 736-5474 or 1-812-949-2664.

Liberty View Church, located north of Milltown on S.R. 66, will host revival services Feb. 28 and 29 and March 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The evangelist will be Doug Byrum, a frequent visitor of the Holy Land. Special singing will be offered by Chris Brown.

Marengo United Methodist Church will host "Golden Friends," a gathering for all seniors, Wednesday, March 5, at 11:30 a.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish; meat and drinks will be provided. Door prizes will be given. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month. The quilters continue to meet each Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information about either event, or to inquire about transportation to Golden Friends, call 365-2203.

Mt. Zion Brethren in Christ Church clothes closet will be open Tuesday, March 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be lots of clothes and household items to be given away. The church is located on Speed Road west of Milltown near S.R. 66. Everyone is welcome.

Perseverance Mixers will serve an Italian Meal Saturday, March 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Perseverance United Methodist Church south of Corydon. The nenu will include pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, salad, and Italian desserts. At 7 p.m., there will be a dessert and craft auction. Proceeds from the meal and auction go toward outreach projects and the church parking lot project.

Organizations

Bethlehem Masonic Lodge 574 at Birdseye will confer the Master Mason degree Friday, Feb. 29, at 7 p.m.

Crawford County Twenty-First Century Scholars will meet Monday, March 3, at 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Junior-Senior High School media center. The topic — Core 40 and study skills — will be for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders. For more information, call Beverly Hazel at 1-502-641-7815. Also, seniors need to have FAFSA and information forms turned in by March 10. This meeting was originally scheduled for February, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Milltown Police Explorer/Cadet Program will meet Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at the Milltown Town Hall. For more information, call 633-2045.

Veterans

Leavenworth Senior Citizens will begin having coffee, donuts and cookies, as well as games with prizes, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Leavenworth Senior Citizens Center beginning March 3. Everyone is invited.
