First Southern Baptist Church in Floyds Knobs invites all children age 3 through grade 5 for Club VBS. The pardners (kids, that is) will ride through trails of adventure-filled Bible stories, create cool western crafts, enjoy refreshing snacks and gallop through the recreation activities. Indian Creek Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through grade 6 for free from Sunday, June 22, through Friday, June 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. each day. In this one-week adventure — Outrigger Island: Living God's Unshakable Truth — children will hear Bible stories, participate in crafts, sing motivating songs, eat snacks at the Snack Shack and play games at Recreation Reef. Harrison County Hymn Sing will host GospelFest Saturday, June 14, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Hurley D. Conrad Memorial Bandstand in Corydon as a drug-free, gang-free, fun zone for families. Scheduled to perform are Down by the Wayside Choir, Old Union Community Choir, Lincoln Hill Baptist Church, Triumph Worship and Praise, Chosen Youth, Vic and Eve Zarley, Wesley UMC Chancel Choir, Sisters in Faith, Loren Fowler, Anointed Blood, Larry Johnson, Louisville Archdiocese Choir, Black Mountain, The Chestnuts, New Salisbury Full Gospel Praise Team, St. Paul AME Choir and The Ferrens. Other free activities planned include Clowning Around Carnival Rides, Golf Shores Fun Center miniature golf, cornhole, Harrison County K-9 demonstration, health screenings, drug/alcohol awareness, fire safety, Ronald McDonald, Abraham Lincoln and Elvis Presley. There will be food booths offering pulled pork barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, fish, brats, walking tacos, apple dumplings, homemade cakes, pies, ice cream and more.
Hillview Christian Church will have Vacation Bible School, titled "God's Big Back Yard," on Saturday, June 21, at the American Legion post in Marengo off S.R. 66. Louisville Astronomical Society will host a free public star viewing night at its observatory near Curby in Crawford County Saturday, June 14, beginning at dusk. LAS members will have their telescopes set up in the viewing fields so the public can view the night skies, including the stars, moon and planets.
