NH Junior High wins MSC meet

North Harrison Junior High School claimed the Mid-Southern Conference Junior High Track and Field meet title May 10 at Corydon Central High School.
North Harrison won the team title with 117 points, followed by Scottsburg with 101-1/2 points. Corydon was sixth with 45 points.
Ryan Foster picked up multiple wins for the Cougars, winning the 1,600-meter run (4:45.9) and the 800-meter run (2:14.4). Also picking up first-place finishes were Cody Morgan (400, 56.2 seconds), Ryan Smith (discus, 94-11.5) and Alex Rutherford (shot put, 40.6.5).
Among the remaining top finishers from North Harrison were Cody Morgan (second, 100-meter dash; second, 200-meter dash), Nate Klpheke (second, 110 hurdles), Jon Reynolds (second, 1,600-meter run; third, 800-meter run), Andrew Rothrock (fourth, long jump; fifth, shot put).
Corydon's top finisher was Antonio Chavez in the 400-meter dash.
On the girls' side, Brownstown finished first with 144 points. North Harrison was second with 86. Corydon placed fifth with 59 points.
North Harrison's Alyssa McAfee finished first with a time of 17.8 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. North Harrison also won the 400- and 800-meter relays. Corydon's Olivia Wiseman won the 800-meter run in 2:37.8, and Kim Burks finished first in the 1,600 in 5:54.5.
