Meeting to discuss possible child care transportation
July 16, 2008 Realizing that many Crawford Countians must not only travel great distances to and from work each day, but also must often travel out of their way to obtain child care services, Rainbow's End Child Care Center in Marengo, in cooperation with Southern Indiana Transit (SITS), is looking at the possibility of offering child care transportation services.
With the high cost of gasoline, it is believed this service could be of great benefit to working parents. Pick-up and drop-off points would be established based upon need and feasibility. The goal would be to make utilizing the service as convenient and affordable as possible for working families, and as cost effective as possible for SITS. Being able to offer this service will be dependent upon public response and demand.
Rainbow's End Child Care, located at 6913 E. S.R. 64 in Marengo is a state-licensed child care center. This center has been in operation since 1999.
An informational public meeting will be held at the Rainbow's End Center in Marengo on Tuesday, July 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Interested parents will be able to tour the center, talk to child care and transportation staff, and inspect the bus that SITS will be using.
Specific information, including the cost for child care and transportation, will be provided at the meetings. Anyone unable to attend one of the scheduled meetings may contact Julia Baylor, director of Child Care Services, at 738-4971 for information.
