Floyd EMA announces public showers, feeding locations, water pick up locations

There will be public showers set up at the following locations for Floyd County/New Albany residents:
•In Floyd County—Highland Hills Middle School, 3492 Edwardsville-Galena Road; and
•In New Albany—Hazelwood Junior-High 2801 Grantline Road.
Times will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
***Individuals must bring their own towels and soap.***
There is NOT a boil water advisory in effect by any of the New Albany or Floyd County water utilities, but please ask residents to conserve water when possible.
Feeding will be set up by the Salvation Army in the following locations:
•Wednesday at Silver Street United Methodist Church, 413 Silver St., from 6 to 6:30 p.m.; Main Street United Methodist Church, 516 W. Main Street from 5:30 to 6 p.m.;
•Thursday at Centenary United Methodist Church, 309 E. Spring St. from 6 to 7 p.m.; and
•Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 219 E. 11th St. from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
This service is provided to individuals who have no other means.
Bottle water is available, while supplies last, at the following locations.
In Floyd County:
•Georgetown Fire Department at 5610 Corydon Ridge Road in Edwardsville;
•Lafayette Twp. Fire Department at 4002 Scottsville Road in Floyds Knobs; and
•Greenville Twp. Fire Department at 7020 U.S. 150 in Galena.
In New Albany:
•New Albany Fire Department Station 3 at 316 E. Spring St.
In addition, there will be bagged ice available at Highland Hills Middle School, 3492 Edwardsville-Galena Road on Wednesday from 4 o 8 p.m. and Thursday from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
Residents must bring a cooler to preserve the ice during transportation.
Floyd County residents can drop off vegetation (tree limbs, etc.) at the following locations:
•Letty Park on St. Mary's Road in Floyds Knobs;
•On the corner of U.S. 150 and Navilleton Road in Galena; and
•Floyd County Highway Garage on Old Georgetown Road in Edwardsville.
Floyd County and New Albany residents are asked to report any structural damage (massive roof damage, electric service pulled from homes, fires caused by wind damage, other structural damage to walls) to the Emergency Management office at 1-812-948-5454. Office hours 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or leave a message.
These damage assessments are needed to qualify for federal funding.
