Marengo Pilgrim Holiness Church, 6347 E. Speed Road near Milltown, is having a revival Tuesday, Oct. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 2, at 7 weeknights and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (the morning time listed last week was incorrect) and 6:30 p.m. Evangelists and singers, the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Draggoo, will be featured. Marengo United Methodist Church will host Golden Friends, a monthly gathering for all seniors, Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 a.m. This will be the group's Thanksgiving meal, and everyone is welcome to join for food, fun and fellowship. Palmyra United Methodist Church will have a chicken and dumpling dinner Saturday, Nov. 1, at the celebration center. Dinner, to be served from 4 to 7 p.m., will consist of chicken and dumplings, green beans, corn, salad, drinks and dessert. The cost will be $7.50 for adults and $4 for children age 5 through 12, while children 4 and younger will eat free. There will also be a country store, silent auction and dessert auction. Pies and cakes will be auctioned off at various times starting at 5 p.m., and a handmade quilt will be auctioned at 7 p.m. A variety of donations from local businesses were received for the auction, including VIP passes from Paoli Peaks. On Nov. 6, 7 and 8, the church will have a Holiday Craft Show in the celebration center. Handmade arts, crafts and homemade goods will be available. Breeden Memorial Library announces Family Movie Night showings. The library will show "Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of the Moody Ghost" Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m. and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" Thursday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. Movies are shown on a theater-style screen. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Call the library at 739-4092 before 4 p.m. the day of the film if planning to attend.
Hardinsburg Lions Club will sponsor an open fire-cooked ham and bean dinner Sunday, Nov. 2, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Bearcat Civic Center, 1-1/2 miles east of Hardinsburg along U.S. 150. Ham and beans, cornbread, fried potatoes, slaw, drinks and desserts will cost only a free-will donation. Music will be provided by Country Charm Band, from 2 to 3:45 p.m.; Butt Struttin', from 4 to 5:45 p.m.; and an open country jamboree, from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds will help with the Lions Club's community Christmas program.
