March 04, 2009 Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman recently awarded the Town of Marengo a $30,000 planning grant the town will use to fund a storm drainage system analysis.
The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs administers planning grants through the Small Cities and Towns Development Block Grant program.
"Planning grants are invaluable tools that can help rural communities improve the quality of life for their residents," Skillman said. "I'm pleased to award this grant to Marengo. It's exciting to partner with you, and to recognize your commitment to your community."
Marengo's planning grant is for a storm drainage system analysis to address future community service needs.
The grant program has proven to be an effective tool for community-based planning and research initiatives that improve local quality of life and economic opportunities.
