Pierce, 31, sentenced for molestation

March 11, 2009
A Crawford County man has been sentenced in Crawford County Circuit Court on several counts of child molestation.

Donald Andrew Pierce, 31, of English was arrested and charged in June 2008 with five counts of child molesting after a witness came forward with information and Crawford County Prosecutor Cheryl Hillenburg, assisted by Crawford County Deputy Sheriff Debra Young, completed an investigation.

At a sentencing hearing on Feb. 23, Crawford County Circuit Judge Lynn Lopp sentenced Pierce to 40 years with 10 years suspended on Count 1, child molesting, a Class A felony. On Count 2, child molesting, a Class A felony, Pierce received another 40-year sentence with 10 years suspended. He also received 40-year sentences with 10 years suspended on Counts 3 and 4, both Class A felony child molesting convictions. Pierce was also sentenced to four years, all executed, on Count 5, child molesting, a Class C felony.

The court also sentenced Pierce to an additional 10 years for the enhancement of a prior sexual offense.

The enhancement conviction was due to Pierce being convicted of an unrelated sexual offense in Harrison County in 1999.

Pierce was arrested in Harrison County and convicted of child molesting, a Class C felony, and was sentenced in October 1999 to five years with two years suspended. He was released after completing his sentence for that crime.

The Crawford County sentences are to run consecutive to each other. The enhancement sentence will run concurrently with counts 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Upon release from prison, Pierce will be on probation for 10 years.
