March 11, 2009 Emergency Management Agency Director Kent Barrow is still accepting names to be added to the county's SchoolMessenger System.
The system will notify listed residents by phone of any emergency announcement issued by county officials or the EMA office. The program will not yet notify residents of an approaching storm or tornado, but that may come in the near future.
Residents may include two names per household. There is a 50-cent-per-name fee to add names to the calling list.
Names can be sent to: Emergency Management Agency, P.O. Box 316, English, IN 47118; or the names can be dropped off at the EMA office at 306 Oak Hill Circle in English. There is a black mailbox by the front door of the Extension office that can be used to drop off lists of names if the office is closed.
