March 18, 2009 Crawford County's weightlifting program continued to show its worth recently as the Wolfpack team fared well at the 16th annual Weightlifting Competition Feb. 28 at South Spencer High School. Of the 11 Wolfpack lifters, six came home with medals.
"Everybody did exceptionally well," Crawford lifting coach Brian Ruble said, adding there were several personal records set. "I'm really proud of them."
In the Freshman-Sophomore Division, the Wolfpack finished fifth with four lifters in the top five. Chris Schwartz was second in the 136-145 class, and J.D. Nale was second in the 176-185 pound class. In the upper heavyweights, Tim Redden placed fifth in the 201-215 class, while Andrew Douglas finished fifth in the over 216 pound class.
In the Junior-Senior Division, Crawford's Cody Dearborn made the top three in the under 125 pound class, finishing third. Cody Cotner also made the top five in the 136-145 pound class with a fifth-place finish.
