NH golfers finish second at MSC

Saturday, May 23, provided a humid round of the Mid-Southern Conference boys' golf championship at Wooded View Golf Course in Clarksville.

Of the 10-team field, no one was a match for Brownstown Central over the 18 holes. The Braves had four scores under 80 to card a team score of 302. Led by Zach Pranger's 74, Brownstown Central also had a strong day from Jake Olson (75), Caleb Hackman (75) and Luke Warren (78).

North Harrison finished second to the Braves, 14 strokes back with a team score of 316.

Chris Worrall led North Harrison, carding a 3-over par 74. Over holes one through nine, Worrall played par golf. He concluded his round with birdies on the first and fourth holes, good for a second-place finish among individuals.

Leading the individual scoring was Scottsburg's Andy Gladden, who carded a 73.

Also for North Harrison, Matt Bruce notched birdies on three of his first five holes to start 3-under par. Bruce went on to finish with a respectable 77. Lefty Dylan Spencer carded an 82, and Daniel Matthews shot an 83 to round out North Harrison's scoring. Nick Morris also shot a 90.

Salem finished third overall with a 318, followed by Corydon Central's 326.

For the Panthers, Josh Faulkenburg posted a solid round of 76 for a seventh-place finish overall. He finished off his round with a birdie on his final hole, No. 15.

Corydon Central's Craig Whelan finished with one birdie and a round of 80 for the Panthers. Also scoring rounds for Corydon Central were Michael Merk (83), Brian Baker (87) and Ryan Coffman (88).

Worrall, Bruce and Faulkenburg received All-MSC honors.

Teams now look to the sectional tournament, which will take place Monday at 8 a.m. at Valley View Golf Club in Floyds Knobs.
