Household of Faith, Assembly of God Church, in Crandall, will have a soup supper Friday, July 10, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Crandall Masonic Lodge off Oak Street. The menu will include turtle soup, bean soup with cornbread, chili, hot dogs, desserts and drinks. It is "all you can eat" for $5 (children younger than 10 will be $2). Marengo Christian's Missionary Church will host Vacation Bible School for ages nursery through sixth grade Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, from 6 to 8:30 nightly. The theme will be "Son Rock Kids Camp: Where Kids Build Their Lives on the Rock: Jesus!" There will be Bible stories, wildlife, crafts, food and games. Harrison County Farm Bureau, along with the Harrison County Cattleman's Association, will have its annual Summer Picnic Saturday, July 18, at the purebred Angus cattle farm of Doug and Sandy Sherman, 805 Sycamore Lane, Laconia. Start time will be 5 p.m., with the meal served at 6. Bring a covered dish; meat and drinks will be provided. Guest speakers will be Evan Tate of The Beef Connection, on genetics, and Ryan Westerfeld with the Indiana Department of Agriculture, on the Five Point Livestock Certified Program. Following the meal and program, there will be a tour of Chad Baker's backgrounding operation, which is located about two miles from the Sherman farm.
