Festival returns to Milltown
September 16, 2009
Following a one-year absence, the Milltown Community Festival will return this weekend, and the full schedule suggests organizers are hoping this year's event will be among the best.
Last year's festival was canceled after the remnants of Hurricane Ike blew through the area, ripping off roofs and even toppling some structures, just days before the festival was to begin.
With pleasant weather expected, this year's festival, in the downtown area, will kick off Friday at 5 p.m. and run through 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Special attractions and activities will include an antique car show, face painting, kids' barrel rides, horse carriage rides, beer garden, safety demonstrations, food and craft booths, dunking booth, baby photo contest, kids' games and activities, pumpkin decorating contest and farm tractor displays.
Also, there will be live music on all three days, with the bands No Xcuses performing Friday night and King's Cave and King Codd entertaining the crowd Saturday night. Plus, following a community outdoor worship service in the morning, several gospel music singers will take to the stage Sunday.
Those attending the festival are invited to bring lawn chairs.
