One killed in crash on U.S. 150

February 24, 2010
A Greenville man was killed in a traffic crash Friday afternoon in Greenville.

Steven Foster, 43, died at the scene after his Chrysler Sebring convertible was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Tim Youtsey, 43, of Georgetown, according to police.

The crash occurred at about 1:15 p.m. The Floyd County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call regarding the crash on U.S. 150 near Schuler Road. Upon arrival, first responders found Foster to be deceased.

The preliminary investigation shows that Youtsey was driving west on U.S. 150 when his Silverado left the right edge of the road. Police said Youtsey was unable to correct before he struck a guardrail. The pickup then crossed the center dividing line and struck Foster's convertible, which was traveling east.

Youtsey was transported to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany with non-life threatening injuries.

U.S. 150 between both ends of Schuler Road was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation, which is ongoing.

The Floyd County Prosecutor's Office Combined Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to investigate the crash. CART was formed in July 2007 by Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson to investigate all fatal crashes and crashes involving serious bodily injury which may result in criminal charges. CART members have additional training in crash reconstruction and scene diagramming.

Also assisting at the scene were members of the New Albany Police Department, Indiana State Police, Greenville Fire Department, Yellow EMS and the Floyd County Coroner's Office.
