April 14, 2010 A Crawford County man who was sentenced to three years in prison on drug charges escaped from custody but was recaptured within hours.
Timothy Chanley, 25, English, who was sentenced in Crawford County to three years in prison in September 2009 for possession of a controlled substance, was sent to the Henryville Correctional Facility.
Chanley was found missing on April 8 after he apparently walked away from the facility at approximately 8:30 p.m.
He was recaptured by Indiana State Police at about 8 a.m. the following day along Interstate 65. He was gone less than 12 hours when he was taken into custody.
His earliest possible release date was Feb. 21, 2011.
"This is another excellent example of the communication and partnerships between different state agencies," Indiana Department of Correction Commissioner Edwin Buss said. "We would like to thank the Indiana State Police for their quick cooperative effort in apprehending Chanley."
