Big Blue River of the Ohio Landowners Association will meet Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Milltown Fire House, located at 507 Indiana Ave.

Birdseye Town Council will meet Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.

Crawford County Friends of the Library will meet Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Public Library at English.

Crawford County Solid Waste Management District Board will meet Thursday, Sept. 2, at 8 a.m. at the SWCD office at 700 S. Indiana Ave., English.

Georgetown Town Council will conduct a public hearing regarding a water-rate increase Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall at 1040 Copperfield Drive. The council also will conduct a public hearing regarding approval of the 2011 budget Monday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. at the town hall.

Harrison County Plan Commission will meet Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners/Council Room at the Harrison County Court House at Corydon.

Church events

Grantsburg Community Church will have its annual homecoming Sunday, Sept. 12. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by the worship service at 10:30 and lunch at noon. The Cowen Creek Boys will perform at 1 p.m. Pastor Eric Satterfield welcomes everyone.

Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church, located along S.R. 64 west of English, will have a quilt show Friday and Saturday, Sept. 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $1, and a light lunch will be available.

Potato Run United Methodist Church will have homecoming Sunday, Sept. 12. Sunday school will be at 9:30 a.m. followed by the worship service at 10:30. A chicken barbecue dinner will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a special homecoming service at 1. There will be special music at all services provided by Praise 101-Lifting up the name of Jesus, Bill Mauck, Janice Mauck and Steve Crosby, as well as Sally Lasley, Sharon Stiner and Diana Lasley. In addition, historical reflection will be offered by Hazel Byerley. Everyone is invited.

Miscellaneous/Organizations

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet each Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Crawford County Community Building at English.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church at New Salisbury.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet each Friday at 8 p.m. behind the Crawford County Youth Service Bureau at Marengo.

Crawford County Friends of the Library will meet Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. at the Crawford County Public Library at English.

Dance and social gathering will be held the second and fourth Fridays of the month at the Georgetown Optimist Club. A pitch-in supper will be at 6 p.m. followed by the dance, with music by Shirley's Interstate 5 band at 7.

Dance and social gathering will be each Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bearcat Civic Center about a mile east of Hardinsburg along U.S. 150. There will be live music. Admission is a donation. Concessions will be sold by the Hardinsburg Lions Club.

Hardinsburg Lions Club will host euchre tournaments each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hardinsburg Lions Club (Bearcat Civic Center). The sign-up fee is $5. To sign up, call 1-812-723-4316.

Open country jamboree will be each Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hardinsburg Lions Club (Bearcat Civic Center), one mile east of Hardinsburg along U.S. 150. All musicians are welcome to participate. There will be no cover charge, and the kitchen will be open.

T-Tab (Think Thin and Beautiful) weight loss and support group will meet each Thursday at Marengo Elementary School, Room 151. Weigh-in will be at 4 p.m. with the program from 4:30 to 5. Membership is $5 with $1 per week dues. For more information, call 365-2220 or 633-7644.

Reunions

Belcher reunion will be held with a pitch-in dinner Saturday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Sycamore Springs Park Deer Lake Shelterhouse west of English.

Descendants of James C. and Hannah Newton-Enlow Faulkenburg (children are Ida, James and Leora Enlow; Mack, Ella and Charles Edward; and Minnie and Essie Faulkenburg) will have a reunion Sunday, Sept. 19, at Patoka Lake Shelterhouse No. 1. Bring a covered dish and drinks for lunch, which will be at about noon.

Descendants of William (wife Stella) and Emery (wife Mary) Sturgeon are invited to a reunion Saturday, Sept. 11, at the English Senior Citizens Building. Dinner will be served at about noon. For additional information, call 739-4453.

New Middletown Alumni Banquet will be Saturday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. Anyone who attended New Middletown High School is invited. Reservations, which are $9.50 per person, can be made by Sept. 11 with Virginia Walther, 6609 Buck Creek Road SE, Corydon, IN 47112.

Veterans

American Legion Post 332 Legionnaires will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays at 8 p.m.; Sons of the American Legion will meet the first Tuesday at 8 p.m.; the Legion Auxiliary will meet the third Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., all at the post home at Milltown.

American Legion Post 332 will offer bingo each Friday at the post home at Milltown. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Euchre will be played each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the post. The cost is $5.

American Legion Ralph E. Parr Post 133 at Alton, Legionnaires and Ladies Auxiliary, will meet the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.; American Legion Sons, second Thursday, 7 p.m.; karaoke, first, second and third Saturdays.

VFW Post 6160 will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the post home at English. The Ladies Auxiliary also will meet at 7. The post also will offer bingo each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and euchre tournaments each Friday at 7 p.m.
