NH runs to victory at Columbus

The No. 12 North Harrison boys' cross country team earned its ranking, having another outstanding performance at a competitive 13-team meet against other ranked teams. The Cougars competed Saturday at Clifty Creek Elementary School in Columbus.

The team scored 53 points and had a pack time of 1:05. The Cougars won the 28th annual Columbus East Kick-Off Invitational for the first time since competing in the event for several years. Johnnie Guy placed second overall with a time of 16:50. Jonathan Reynolds placed fifth overall with a time of 17:11, Ryan Foster placed 10th with a time of 17:26, Josh Guy placed 16th with a time of 17:45, Kyle Chesser placed 20th overall with a personal best time of 17:55, and Cody Morgan placed 55th with a time of 19:29.

The junior varsity boys ran well in their race, coming in sixth place as a team with a pack time of 2:54. Jason Head finished in 16th place with a personal best time of 19:50, Wesley Wiseheart placed 39th with a time of 21:21, Wesley Haub placed 45th with a time of 22:06, Ben Wellner placed 50th with a time of 22:19, Conrae Johannes placed 52nd with a personal best time of 22:46, while Aaron Lett placed 61st and ran the race in 23:11.

The North Harrison girls' team ran well also in the junior varsity race, coming in fourth with a score of 104 points and a pack time of 2:00. Freshman Shelby Lindsey led the girls, finishing in 17th place with a personal best time of 25:34 (she also received honors as one of the top 20 freshman of the day), Sydney Taylor finished in 20th place with a time of 25:38, Jenna Waiz finished in 27th place with a time of 26:25, Mikayla Gaines finished in 35th place with a personal best time of 27:21, Abbey Stone finished in 42nd place with a time of 27:34, Olivia Davis placed 43rd with a time of 27:35, Allison Walls finished in 49th place with a personal best time of 32:03, and Brittney Voyles finished in 50th place with a personal best time of 34:36.

North Harrison will host its only home meet of the year tomorrow (Thursday) with the 42nd annual Cougar Classic. About 30 schools are expected to participate.
