Leavenworth Elementary School honored past and present military personnel during a Veterans Day ceremony presented by sixth-graders.
The ceremony began at the flag- pole, where students raised the U.S., Indiana and POW-MIA flags. The ceremony then continued in the gymnasium where the 27 servicemen were honored individually, with each presented a paper poppy made by the students.
Poems were then read, including one detailing the significance of poppies in honoring veterans, and a brief video with photos of military personnel was shown.
Following the ceremony, the servicemen were treated to lunch.
