Lady Cats down Corydon, 4-1

April 20, 2011
The North Harrison girls' tennis team rolled to a 4-1 team win over visiting Corydon Central last Wednesday.

The match was delayed a day due to weather, but the Lady Cats didn't seem bothered, sweeping both matches on the doubles court.

Between the pair of doubles matches, North Harrison dropped a measly seven games.

In No. 1 doubles, the team of Tina Dukes and Megan Foreman defeated Kasey McDonald and Amber Cooley, 6-1, 6-2.

Winning continued in No. 2 doubles as Kaylee Nordhoff and Lexie James ousted Ashleigh Showalter and Skylar Hodges, 6-1, 6-3.

Corydon Central scored its lone win in No. 1 singles via Heather Uhl. She was able to defeat Rebekah Stephenson in two sets, 6-3, 6-4.

The remaining singles matches went the way of North Harrison. Maddie Janes defeated Charity Martin in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Corydon Central's Kayla Uhl won the first set in No. 3 singles over Allison Goldman, 4-6. Goldman, however, rallied to win the final two sets, 6-1, 7-5.

Both teams will participate in the Harrison County Tennis Tournament Saturday at South Central. Warm-ups begin at 8:45 a.m., followed by the start. The Lady Cats have won 16 consecutive county titles.
