The Floyd Central Highlanders kept their record clean at 4-0 with wins over Hoosier Hills opponents Madison and Seymour the past two Fridays. Senior Kyle Bramble also improved his touchdown total to 20 for the season.
At Madison, Sept. 2, the Highlanders reached the end zone four times in the first half, two of those from Bramble and the others from Matt Rue and Josh Hack. Bramble scored two more times in the second half, and Jason VanBuren added a field goal for the 45-21 final.
The Highlanders finished with 445 yards of offense to the Cubs' 205. Bramble carried the ball 15 times for 241 yards. Brennann Schramke carried nine times for 58 yards, and Terrence Kennedy had 10 carries for 53 yards. Floyd Central was 3 of 5 passing for 30 yards.
On defense, Austin Wirth had eight tackles, and Josh Hack put down six Cubs and had an interception good for a 59-yard touchdown. Chase Herron had five tackles and five assists.
Bramble had another big night Friday against visiting Seymour with seven touchdowns as the Highlanders handily plucked the Owls, 58-21.
Bramble had three touchdown runs of more than 50 yards and caught two TD passes from Bryce Smith, including one that went for 95 yards.
The Highlanders finished with 543 yards of offense. They were 9 of 13 passing for 233 yards and had 42 carries for 310 yards. Bramble carried the ball 18 times for 215 yards and caught two passes for 127 yards. Kennedy carried six times for 40 yards, and Smith carried four times for 24 yards. Brandon Stout had four carries for 21 yards. Others catching passes included Scott Nichols with four for 55 yards and VanBuren, who had one for 33 yards.
On defense, Tanner Faulkenburg finished with seven tackles, and Wirth, Stout, Rue and Herron had five each.
Floyd Central will play at Jeffersonville Friday at 7 p.m.
