12 NH runners record PRs

The North Harrison cross country team had another solid performance this weekend with 12 runners getting personal record times (PRs) and the other seven runners having their season's best time at the Brown County Eagle Classic Invitational.

The two-division, 35-team, invitational had 18 small schools (less than 1,000 students) and 17 large schools (more than 1,000 students) in attendance Saturday. The North Harrison boys' varsity team came in fourth place overall and won the small school division with a score of 43 points and a pack time of 1:18.

In the small school division, Johnnie Guy finished in third place (ninth overall) and had a PR time of 15:35, Jonathan Reynolds finished in fourth place (14th overall) with a time of 15:47, Josh Guy finished in seventh place (22nd place overall) with a time of 16:11, Ryan Foster finished in 14th place (44th overall) with a time of 16:52, Kyle Chesser finished in 15th place (46th overall) with a time of 16:53, Jason Head finished in 16th place (54th overall) with a PR time of 17:05, and Cody Morgan finished in 58th place with a time of 18:25. The boys' varsity team mid-season record as of now stands at 73-6.

The boys' junior varsity team ran in the freshman/sophomore race and scored 271 points and had a pack time of 6:34 and finished in 10th place led by Daniel Fleace coming in 21st place with a PR time of 17:50, Curtis Wetzel coming in 45th place with a PR time of 18:29, Wesley Haub coming in 61st place with a PR time of 19:22, Gary Young coming in 79th place with a PR time of 20:31, and John Fessel coming in 106th place with a PR time of 24:24.

The girls' cross country team had its best performance of the year at the Eagle Classic. In the varsity race in the small school division, Ashton Bosler finished in fifth place with a PR time of 20:18 and Natalie Hollensead finished in 19th place with a PR time of 21:50.

In the girls' junior varsity race, the team scored 332 points and had its best pack time of the season at 1:03 and finished in 11th place. Shelby Lindsey finished in 57th place with a PR time of 23:27, Hayley Elliott finished in 66th place with a PR time of 24:09, Savannah Taylor finished in 68th place with a PR time of 24:20, Abbey Stone finished in 70th place with a season best time of 24:26, and Sydney Taylor finished in 71st place with a season best time of 24:30.

On Saturday, the Cougars will travel across the Ohio River to compete in the Trinity Invitational at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville. More than 50 teams from five different states are scheduled to compete.
