Highfill Chapel Church at Taswell will have a fish fry and bean and ham soup dinner Saturday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fellowship hall north of the church. There also will be a silent auction and bake sale. David Cox will fry the fish, and David Wayman will cook the beans and ham soup. Carry-outs will be available.
Old Union Church in Sulphur will host fall revival services Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23 and 24, with Scott McGowen, from the New Hope Christian Church in Paoli, as the evangelist. On Friday, the Old Union Church Group will provide special music at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 24, there will be special music by the New Hope Christian Church Band at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the service. The church is located 1-1/2 miles west of Old Highway 62, along Old Union Road. Minister and song leader is Les Kauffman.
Palmyra Baptist Church will host old-time gospel singing Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship with light refreshments. Everyone is invited to attend and take their favorite gospel song, poem or story. The church is located along S.R. 135 about 1/2 mile north of U.S. 150. Corydon Central High School Class of 1961 will have its third annual pitch-in picnic Saturday, Sept. 24, at the outdoor shelter house at Lafe Curts' residence with lunch at 1 p.m. and a cookout in the evening. Cornhole and other activities will be available, and there will be a hayride. Meat, table service and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. Bring a covered dish and lawn chairs.
