Church

Evangelist Martin Stevens of Crossville, Tenn., will speak during a revival at the old 4-H Building in English Monday, April 9, through Friday, April 13, at 6:30 each night. Then, on Sunday, April 15, he will be at First Pentecostal Church in Birdseye at 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Pastor is Brett Eckert.

Household of Faith, Assembly of God Church in Crandall will have a fish fry Friday, April 6, at the Crandall Masonic Lodge along Oak Street. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. "All you can eat" adult meals will be $7; $3 for children 10 and younger. Carry-outs will be available. Proceeds will go toward the church building fund. Lydia's Closet, a joint effort between Taswell Seventh-day Adventist Church and Taswell Christian Church, offers a variety of clothing for all sizes. Located at Taswell Christian Church, it is open each Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. except for April 25, as food is distributed that week. Donations of clothing, small household items, baby items, etc. may be made during Wednesday open hours. Persons who cannot come during that time may call Sheila at 1-812-613-0131 or Kathy at 631-2538 to arrange a drop-off time. The Taswell Seventh-day Adventist Church food pantry will be open Thursday, April 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. Families are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis. Old School Victory Christian Church will have old-fashioned revival services Wednesday through Sunday, April 4 through 8, at 7 each night, with evangelist Otis Berry. An Elvis impersonator, Berry will preach as Elvis on Saturday night. In addition, there will be special singing at each service. The church is located along S.R. 337 south of Frenchtown. Pastor is the Rev. Lovell Logsdon. Everyone is welcome.

St. Anthony of Padua Church will have a rummage/bake sale Friday, April 13, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 14, from 7 a.m. to noon at the parish hall. There will be lots of furniture, bedding, home decor, desks, household items, appliances, bath fixtures, furniture, clothing and more. Hamburgers and refreshments will be available. Baked goods will be furnished by St. Anthony Christian Mothers.

Victory Worship Center, located along S.R. 145, will have a free health fair Saturday, May 5, from 1 to 5 p.m. Screenings offered will include blood pressure, acu-check (blood sugar) and cancer. Also, there will be a hand-washing demonstration. For more information, call 1-812-631-1601.

Easter/Holy Week

American Legion Post 84 at Marengo will host an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m.

Blue River Masonic Lodge No. 457 in Fredericksburg will have an open house and community Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, with activities beginning at noon with grilled hamburgers and hot dogs followed by the egg hunts for children starting at 1. Christian's Missionary Church of Marengo, located along Valeene Road, will have an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 7, beginning at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Then, on Easter Sunday, Brother Jason Van Meter will bring the message at 10:30 a.m. with special music by The Breeding Family. At the evening service, at 6:30, Brother Adam Stroud will bring the message and Danny Jones will present special music. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Epiphany Lutheran Church, along S.R. 135 north of New Salisbury, will have an Easter egg hunt Saturday at 11 a.m. for children under the age of 12. Also, there will be an Easter sunrise service with holy communion at 7 followed by breakfast at 8. Communion will also be celebrated during the regular 10 a.m. worship service. Everyone is invited.

Heartland Church of the Nazarene will host its annual Community Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, at 10 a.m. There will be candy and prizes. In addition, pictures with the Easter Bunny will be available. The church is located at 6901 Old Vincennes Road in Floyds Knobs, just past Floyd Central High School. Liberty View Church will have a special Easter service Saturday, April 7, at 4:30 p.m. with special activities for children. At 5, there will be food and snacks followed by a showing of the movie "Passion of the Christ" and a separate movie for the children in the Sunday school area. On Easter morning at 9, there will be a breakfast followed by Resurrection Sunday services followed by an Easter egg hunt.

Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church, located along S.R. 64 at English, will host Holy Week events. A Maundy Thursday communion service will begin at 7 p.m., and a community Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. Jason Walton, of the Crawford Consolidated/Pilot Knob UMC Charge, will bring the message. The community is invited. Then, on Saturday, April 7, there will be a Women's Lenten Breakfast in the Lincoln Hills UMC fellowship hall at 9. The Easter Sunday celebration will begin with a sunrise service in the sanctuary at 7:30 followed by a breakfast prepared by the men's group in the fellowship hall. Sunday morning worship, with communion and special music, will be at 9:30 followed by Sunday school at 10:45.

Marengo Christian Church will host an Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be games and prizes and a hot dog lunch at noon. Everyone is welcome.

Milltown Christian Church will host a community communion worship service on Good Friday at 7 p.m. The service is among four throughout the year involving Milltown area churches. The services are open to everyone, and refreshments and fellowship will follow each service.

New Salisbury Christian's Missionary Church will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Brother Adam Stroud will deliver the message. On Saturday, there will be a breakfast at 9 followed by an Easter egg hunt at 10. On Sunday, the church will present an Easter cantata at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome. The pastor is Randy Coleman. Palmyra Baptist Church will have a revival Wednesday, April 4, through Sunday, April 8, at 7 each night with pastor Bradley Anderson speaking today and Sunday. The Ferrens will provide special music Friday and Saturday. There will be an Easter egg hunt Saturday at 3 p.m. followed by a chili supper. An Easter sunrise service will begin at 8 followed by regular morning worship at 11. The church is located 1/2 mile north of U.S. 150 on Greene Street (S.R. 135). Miscellaneous/Organizations

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet each Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Crawford County Community Building at English.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church at New Salisbury.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at the Crawford County Public Library in English on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10:30, open discussion.

Bethany Union Cemetery board annual meeting will be Saturday, April 14, at 5 p.m. at Bethany Union Church.

Crawford County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Monday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawford County Public Library at English.

Crawford County Marching Wolfpack Band Boosters and Perry Central High School will present "A Helping Hand" benefit concert Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School. Admission is $5 per person or $20 for a group of five. Desserts and sodas will be available for purchase. In addition, raffle tickets for several items will be sold. All of the proceeds will be divided among four students between both schools who are battling cancer.

Crawford County Relay for Life Rocky's Relayers team will have a bake sale Saturday, April 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at the JayC Store in English. All proceeds will go toward the Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Dance and social gathering will be each Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bearcat Civic Center about a mile east of Hardinsburg along U.S. 150. There will be live music. Admission is a donation. Concessions will be sold by the Hardinsburg Lions Club.

Gilmore Cemetery Board of Directors annual meeting will be Saturday, April 14, at 4 p.m. at the private room at Schwartz Family Restaurant south of Eckerty just off S.R. 37. Our Father Provides Center, located at 109 W. Poplar St. in Corydon, has new and used clothing and food items to give to persons in need. The center is open on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Persons wanting to donate items may do so during that time. For more information, call 738-2516.

Pilot Knob Cemetery annual meeting will be Saturday, April 7, at 6 p.m. at Pilot Knob United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited.

Pleasant Ridge Cemetery meeting will be on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at the church located along Mifflin-West Fork Road.

The Country Charm Band, with more than 300 years of music experience, will perform each Wednesday night at the Eagles Building at 1500 Highway 62 E. in Corydon. There will be a pitch-in supper (bring a dish, if you plan to eat) at 6 p.m. with music and dancing from 6:30 to 9:30. The cover charge is $4, and there will be 50-50 pot drawings and door prizes. Guest singers are welcome.

T-Tab (Think Thin and Beautiful) weight loss and support group will meet each Thursday at Marengo Elementary School, Room 131. Weigh-in will be at 4 p.m. with the program at 4:30. For more information, call 365-2220 or 633-7644.

Yoga class meets each Wednesday evening, from 6 to 7:15, at Leavenworth Elementary School. The class is offered to the community on a donation basis and is open to people in good physical health. American Legion Post 84 at Marengo will host a turkey shoot Sunday, April 8, at 1 p.m. In addition, the post has euchre each Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

American Legion Post 332 Legionnaires will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays at 8 p.m.; Sons of the American Legion will meet the first Tuesday at 8 p.m.; the Legion Auxiliary will meet the third Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., all at the post home at Milltown. The post also will offer bingo each Friday. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

American Legion Ralph E. Parr Post 133 at Alton, Legionnaires and Ladies Auxiliary, will meet the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.; American Legion Sons, second Thursday, 7 p.m.; karaoke, first, second and third Saturdays.

VFW Post 6160 will meet the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the post home at English. The Ladies Auxiliary also will meet at 7.
