Crawford boys, girls win track meets

Both the Crawford County boys' and girls' track teams came out on top in meets last week, with both teams winning a five-way on Monday then coming back to win a three-way on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Lady Pack won over West Washington (61), Lanesville (49), Christian Academy of Indiana (24), and Rock Creek (24), scoring 119 points. Kaitlyn Tincher won the high jump at a height of 4 feet, 10 inches, while Brooke Matlock won the long jump at 14-2 and the 100-meter hurdles in 28.94 seconds. Mitchell Smith won the discus throw with a distance of 92 feet, 5 inches. The Lady Pack also won two of the three relay events with firsts in the 400 meters (58.62) and 3,200 meters (14:34.51).

In Tuesday's three-way win over South Central and Christian Academy of Indiana, Crawford County's girls won seven events. In the field events, Kim Fetz won the shot put with a distance of 29 feet, 4 inches, and Smith won the discus at 75-5. Matlock won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 20.3 seconds, and Olivia Carrol won the 300-meter hurdles in 1:07.63. Yasmine Yennes won the 800-meter run in 2:52.93, and the Lady Pack won both the 400- and 3,200-meter relay events. Crawford County finished with 67 points in the meet while South Central was runner-up at 55. Christian Academy of Indiana had 19 points.

Crawford County's boys scored 148 points on Monday against Lanesville (66), West Washington (54), Christian Academy of Indiana (26) and Rock Creek (15). The Wolfpack won two of the four field events, with Jordan Nickelson taking first in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches and Johnny Schwartz the discus at 132-8. Banet won both hurdles events, the 110 highs in 17.27 and the 300 lows in 43.15 seconds. Seth Morganstern won both sprints, the 100 meters at 11.95 and the 200 meters in 25.09. Chase Broughton won the 800 meters (2:11.09) and 1,600 meters, while Cody Carlton gave the Wolfpack a win in the 3,200-meter run (11:04). Crawford County also scored wins in the 400- (48.86) and 3,200-meter (9:15) relays.

The Wolfpack boys' score of 80 points doubled South Central's second-place score of 40 on Tuesday, as they won 11 of the 15 events. Christian Academy of Indiana finished third with 32 points. In the field events, Schwartz won the discus at 130 feet and James McMonigle won the shot put at 41-9. Banet won both the 110-meter (17.37) and 300-meter hurdles (45.28) events, while Morganstern won the 100 (12.34) and 200 (26.1) dashes. Broughton swept the distance events with wins in the 800 (2:23.17), 1,600 (4:58.57) and 3,200 (10:44.58) runs. The Wolfpack also won the 400 (49.25) and 3,200 (9:41.67) relays.
