Barbecue benefit for Lang family

June 06, 2012
A chicken barbecue fundraiser will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Milltown Elementary School for the Lang family of Eckerty.

Tyler Lang, a student at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School, was injured March 30 when the van he was riding in was struck from behind in Huntsville, Ala. He sustained a severe spinal cord injury and underwent surgery to fuse part of the spinal column back together.

Following weeks of recovery in Huntsville, Lang was transferred April 11 to Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville and was able to see his home for the first time since the crash on May 1.

While Lang has some increased movement and feeling in his leg, he is still confined to a wheelchair. He currently has physical therapy three days a week and has months of work ahead of him to improve the strength in his legs.

The benefit will help the Langs with medical expenses.

For tickets to the barbecue, call Paul Crecelius at 267-0770, Tracey Eckert at 267-3943 or Donna Huff at 630-7204.
