Busch fastest in first practice

Kyle Busch had the fastest time during the opening session of Nationwide Series practice in the Super Weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Thursday afternoon.

Busch turned a lap of 51.737 seconds for a speed of 173.957 miles per hour in his Monster Energy Toyota. Denny Hamlin was second with a speed of 173.671 mph, and Ty Dillon was third at 172.961.

Danica Patrick was seventh fastest with a speed of 170.614 mph but had the best 10-lap average of 169.61 mph.

The GRAND-AM Rolex series will take to the IMS road course today (Friday) with the Brickyard Sports Car Challenge starting at 1 p.m. and lasting for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
