The annual Leavenworth River Fest will return Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature activities throughout the town.
Events at Breeden Memorial Library will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 1 p.m., when the parade begins. The parade will start and finish at Leavenworth Elementary School.
Those who travel down the hill to the old town will find the Leavenworth Lodge serving chicken barbecue beginning at noon next to The Dock restaurant.
A Little Miss and Master Contest will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Junior Miss Pageant from 5 to 6.
The Miss River Fest Pageant will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
A bouncy house, slides and games will be available all day.
Schnellville to host picnic, 4-miler
The Schnellville Picnic and fifth annual Schnellville Derby 4-mile Country Run and Walk will be Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Schnellville Community Club.
Registration for the run and walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $15 per person before Sept. 14 and $18 the day of the event. Runners and walkers age 14 and younger can enter the event for $10 per person. The run/walk will begin at 9, and participants will receive T-shirts while supplies last.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers as well as in each category. All proceeds will benefit Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church education programs.
Serving for the picnic will begin at 11 a.m. Fried and barbecue chicken dinners, including soft drinks and trimmings, will be available.
The picnic also will offer a kiddie tractor pull, quilt raffle, grand raffle, Schnellville Derby and other family events.
All proceeds from the picnic will benefit Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Schnellville Community Club and Schnellville Volunteer Fire Department.
