Despite three touchdowns from running back Garry Posey, the Floyd Central Highlanders suffered a loss on the road Friday night, falling 42-27 to the Seymour Owls in a Hoosier Hills Conference contest.
Posey got the first score in the opening period on a 3-yard run.
Seymour countered with four touchdowns, two of those coming on runs of 75 and 54 yards.
Posey got the call again on the next two scores on runs from 14 and 22 yards.
Following two more scores by the Owls, Nick Uhl gave the Highlanders their last touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Bryce Smith.
Floyd Central ran 52 plays on the ground for 375 yards. Posey carried 31 times for 221 yards, and Gaige Kingsmith had 10 carries for 89 yards. Smith kept the ball five times for 34 yards, and Uhl had five carries for 22 yards.
Smith threw 16 times with four completions. Uhl caught two passes for 36 yards, and Collin Engle had two catches for 31 yards. The Highlanders totaled 442 yards of offense and had 20 first downs to Seymour's 13.
On defense, Chase Herron had 10 tackles and eight assists, while Victor Aemmer had nine tackles and 11 assists. Jacob Trudeau had eight tackles and seven assists, and Elijah Miller had seven tackles and four assists. Brandon Stout had four tackles.
Seymour ran the ball 42 times for 399 yards. The Owls threw 14 times, completing six for 98 yards, to tally 497 total yards of offense.
The Highlanders will be at home Friday night against Jeffersonville. Kickoff will be at 7.
