Eckerty's place to be this weekend

Old Eckerty Days is back this weekend and once again will feature several contests, lots and music and plenty of food.

The two-day festival will begin Friday evening at 5. Events will include the Pretty Baby, Little Miss and Master, Junior Princess, Princess and Queen contests.

Then, at 8 p.m., amateur singers age 12 and older, including those who think they can sing, will take the stage for the karaoke contest.

The festival will continue on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m., with prayer and Luke Kelly leading the national anthem.

A parade will wind its way through town at 1 p.m., and there will be music, including the Soggy Bottom Boys and "Elvis," food and games throughout the day.

Other performers include Joel A. Schwartz, Emily Penny, Marion Mitchell Band, Joe Schwartz Group, Schwartz Family Dance Group, Adams Harmon, J.R. Band and Simon and Sarah Schwartz.

Plus, there will be a cross-cut competition at 4:30 p.m. followed by an ice-cream eating contest at 5.

No alcohol will be permitted.
