The Columbus East Olympians, ranked No. 1 in the Class 4A football poll, spoiled homecoming for the Floyd Central Highlanders Friday night and kept their record spotless with a 31-7 win in a Hoosier Hills Conference contest.
The Olympians scored four touchdowns and got a field goal through three quarters before the Highlanders got on the board. Garry Posey finally scored in the fourth quarter for the Highlanders, running into the end zone from 15 yards, and Ryan Lenz added the extra point.
Floyd Central ran the ball 38 times for 160 yards. The Highlanders took to the air 11 times, completing six passes for 57 yards. Posey ran 15 plays to total 65 yards, and Gabriel Kennedy ran 12 plays for 69 yards. Alex Newton ran one play for 19 yards. Bryce Smith completed 6 of 9 passes, with Trevor Smith catching two for 29 yards.
On defense, Jacob Trudeau had 11 tackles, and Brayden Hoke had seven tackles with five assists. Gaige Klingsmith had six tackles, and Adam Hudson and Chase Herron had five tackles each. Herron also had six assists.
The Highlanders will be the road Friday at Bedford North Lawrence. Game time will be 7 p.m.
