The recount in the Crawford County coroner's election will take place Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom at the judicial complex in English.
Republican Michelle Fitch, who lost the election for Crawford County coroner by 30 votes to Democrat David (Wayne) Bullington, on Nov. 13, a week after the election, filed a petition with the Crawford Circuit Court and submitted the $139 filing fee and $181 bond.
Crawford County Circuit Judge K. Lynn Lopp recused himself from the case, and Washington County Superior Judge Frank Newkirk Jr. of Washington County was appointed.
Bullington, who tallied 2,230 votes to Fitch's 2,200, is represented by attorney Marcus Burgher III, while Chris Lane represents Fitch.
Friday's recount will be conducted by Democrat Dawn Wright and Republican Glenn Crecelius with Jerry Brewer, chair of the Crawford County Democrat Party, and Daniel Crecelius, vice chair of the Crawford County Republican Party, as watchers.
Crawford County Clerk Edna Brown said the recount, which may be completed that day, must be completed by Dec. 20.
