A woman was rescued Tuesday, Jan. 15, after jumping into Blue River at Milltown and being swept over the dam.
Sgt. James Yaeger of the Milltown Police Department indicated that family members present said James Adamson saw his wife, Stephanie, running from their home on Mill Street toward the river around 4:30 p.m.
According to a statement released by the MPD, Adamson said he yelled for his wife to stop, but she continued running past the bridge and then jumped in and was swept over the dam. Adamson said he was able to get down the bank and pull her to safety.
"Mrs. Adamson was treated at the scene and then transported to Harrison County Hospital by Crawford County EMS," Yaeger said. "She is very lucky to be alive. We are continuing to investigate as to why this incident occurred."
Also responding were the Crawford County Sheriff's Department and Milltown Volunteer Fire Department.
