The Crawford County 4-H Kick-off on Saturday was a growing, throwing and shooting success.

The kick-off, held at the Crawford County 4-H Community Park south of Marengo, was a chance for 4-H'ers to get together and celebrate the warming weather with crafts, demonstrations, face painting and more. There were several first-timers present and ready to take the leap and participate in the program.

"The kids were very active and very involved," County Extension Director Carol Judd said. "We had several people sign up based on the interest their children had in the displays."

Information was also available for those interested in raising and showing animals for the 4-H fair as well as examples of projects that are widely accepted.

"This was my first 4-H kick-off," Judd, who came to the Crawford County Extension office last summer, said. "I'd never been to one before, but it was great."
