English Reunion
Long ago and far away!!
May 27, 2009 | 01:51 PM

I was born and in 1925 at West Fork ,In and in the 1930's when the reunion came around, Alva Myler had a flat bed truck that he hauled ties and Logs on to Louisville for any one cutting timber and during the depression in West Fork there was a lot of timber cutting going on, Anyhow-----Alva for 10cents ahead would take a truck load of us to the reunion which was 15 miles away , around harpin curves and steep hills with nothing but gravity holding you on the flat bed. There never was an accident to my knowledge, but just the idea of getting to go to English was a rare treat and to smell the smells and see the big pieces of fish for fish sandwiches was enough. During the depression every
one was hungry, I do believe. I could never punish my kids by putting them to bed without supper, for I went hungry too many times.
I think this ressesion now is good for people, they learn to take care of themselves, and not to whine if they cant do what others do, God has been good to me over the years, but not without hard work on my part and being thrifty!! Old times are not Forgotten, Love Nadine Shoemaker Arnold in Fl
