Funding quandry?
October 19, 2012 | 06:22 AM

It is my hope that after the election, the newly elected Crawford County school board members will sit down at the table and ask themselves what programs are getting recognition from the state, and which are not? I am apalled at the amount of fund-raising the Crawford County band must do and the lack of funding received for them from the school. These kids work hard every year to raise funds. This year the proof is the reputable program they have built. After grueling fund raising, these kids managed to still work even harder to get to ISSMA semi-state! Imagine what they could do with more support from their school? I was lucky in that my school was able to fund numerous programs. But with a smaller budget to work with, some cuts are needed. It's time to make a decision. What school programs are reputable, and recognized by the state? Who needs rewarded and supported, and where could monies be vested that will make our school reputable? The choice is clear. I will not vote for any school board candidate that opposes more funding for the music program. Why cast pearls before swine? And, no, I do not have a child in the school band. It's just common sense.
