14 reasons to oppose plant

Milltown, Ind.

We are concerned about last week's article in the People's Forum section about "Green Energy Benefits" (proposed biomass plant). They gave 10 reasons why they thought this plant should be welcomed. We have 14 reasons why possibly this should not be welcomed here.

1.) Air pollution.

2.) Water pollution.

3.) Ground contamination.

4.) Property values de-creasing.

5.) Health insurance rates.

6.) Increased truck traffic on state roads 64 and 66.

7.) Noise.

8.) Effect on wildlife.

9.) Effect on tourism.

10.) Could affect new home construction — no one wants to build by a biomass plant.

11.) One hundred eighty-five endangered species in the Blue River area.

12.) Water shortage.

13.) Could destroy the karst cave system.

14.) And that the over 1,100 people that signed the petition do not want this here in Milltown.
