Chester E. Sickbert

Died: Sunday, March 30, 2008
Chester (Chet) E. Sickbert, 76, Dale, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at 3:23 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

Born Aug. 3, 1931, in Spencer County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Louise Meyer Sickbert.

He worked 29 years for both the Dubois and Spencer counties Farm Bureau Co-ops and retired from the Spencer County Farm Bureau Co-op as branch manager, served in the Army National Guard and was an active member of Salem United Church of Christ, where he served on the church council and various committees over the years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Heim, and a brother, Warren Sickbert.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Ann Stenftenagel; three sons, Randall Sickbert of Ferdinand, Scott Sickbert of Birdseye and Bruce Sickbert of Dale; five brothers, Melvin Sickbert of Carmel, Vic Sickbert of Jasper, Edwin Sickbert of Birdseye, Arthur Sickbert of Jasper and Herman Sickbert of New Palestine; two sisters, Linda Landis of Noblesville and Mary Weyer of Jeffersonville; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Visitation: Wednesday, April 2, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.

Funeral: Thursday, April 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.

Officiant: The Revs. Don Giesmann and Tom Wade.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Salem United Church of Christ.
