Capt. Scott H. Davis

Capt. Scott H. Davis, 61, La Center, Wash., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008.

Born Aug. 7, 1946, he was the son of Beulah R. Davis of Ramsey and the late Jack D. Davis.

He graduated from Benton High School and Louisiana Tech University, was commissioned as a Naval aviator in 1971. He served as a F-4 Phantom II pilot, completing cruises aboard the USS Enterprise in Southeast Asia and USS America in the Mediterranean, graduated from Top Gun weapons school, was commanding officer of the first reserve squadron to fly the F/A-18 Hornet and was a licensed mechanic. His received the Silver Star, four Air Medals, Navy Commendation Medals plus eight other campaigns, service and unit awards. After retiring from the Navy, he was a pilot for Continental Airlines and Jet American and retired as a captain for Alaska Airlines in 2006.

Survivors besides his mother include his wife, the former Paula Parnell of Choudrant, La.; three children, Robert of Ruston, La., and Sarah and Garrett, both of La Center; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Miller of Georgetown.

Visitation: Saturday, May 10, after 11 a.m. at Unity Chapel United Methodist Church south of Ramsey.

Funeral: Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at the church followed by interment, with military honors in Wood’s Chapel Cemetery in Ramsey.

Arrangements: Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey.

Memorial service: Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at the La Center high school commons area.
