Raymond Cook

Died: Sunday, May 18, 2008
Raymond Cook, 78, Georgetown, died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the V.A. Medical Center in Louisville.

Born Aug. 11, 1929, in Buckingham, Ky., he was the son of the late Dave and Oka Hall Cook.

He was a master sergeant in the Army, serving from 1949 to 1953, and was held 33 months as a prisoner of war in Pyuckdong, North Korea, during the Korean War. He worked 26 years as a cabinet builder for National Homes before retiring in 1984.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Minas and Nelson Cook.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Cook of Hudson, Mich.; a daughter, Rita Cook of Indianapolis; two sisters, Aileen Green of Michigan City and Nebraska King of Cleveland; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.

Funeral: Thursday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
