Howard R. Ash

Died: Monday, July 21, 2008
Howard Raymond Ash, 88, Hendersonville, N.C., formerly of Lake Station, died Sunday, July 21, 2008, at his home.

Born April 25, 1920, in Eckerty, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Ash.

He served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1945 during World War II, was employed by U.S. Steel until he retired in 1982, was a member of American Legion Post 100 in Lake Station and Post 77 in Hendersonville and attended Blue Ridge Christian Church in Fletcher, N.C.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Lowell, George and Roy Ash, and three sisters, Mae, Bernice and Imogene.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Deloris Limp; a daughter, Margaret Trees of Hendersonville; a son, Roger Ash of LaPorte; a sister, Susie Doughty of Mooresville; a brother, Omer Ash of Evansville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, July 24, after 11 a.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.

Funeral: Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Birdseye Cemetery.

Officiant: The Rev. Ron Hickman.

Military graveside rites: VFW Post 2366 Memorial Detail.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Four Seasons Hospice of Hendersonville, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or Blue Ridge Christian Church, 181 Oren Drive, Fletcher, NC 28732.
